My despatch of the 17th April Confidential I have consulted the Consul General at Canton and I am of opinion that, in view of successful redemption of note issue now proceeding, the garrison may be reduced by one Indian battalion and four guns Hazara mountain battery leaving one Indian battalion, mule transport detachment and two guns, I have sent a copy of this telegram to Minister at Peking.
